Williamson M. Evers



 
       Williamson M. Evers is a political scientist and visiting scholar at Stanford University's Hoover Institution. One of his research fields is public policy and biomedical ethics.
       He has had articles published in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Christian Science Monitor, and other newspapers, and in Reason, The American Spectator, Policy Review and other magazines. He was editor-in-chief of Inquiry magazine from 1977 to 1980.
       Dr. Evers is the editor and a co-author of National Service: Pro & Con (1990). He received his Ph.D. in political science from Stanford University in 1987 and wrote his dissertation on the liberty of the press.
       Dr. Evers' essay originally appeared in the November 6, 1993, issue of The Cleveland Plain Dealer and was reprinted in the March 1994 issue of Freedom Daily, published by The Future of Freedom Foundation.
